Lightning Basketball Post Early Season Wins

Live Oak’s basketball teams won five of their seven contests this past week. Malia, Adella, and Nieve led the girls JV in scoring as the team played strong defense to secure their first win of the season, a 26-7 victory over Presidio Hills School this past Thursday.
They followed that up with a 19-4 win over Burke’s on Wednesday as Adella led the team with 12 points while Charlotte, Shoshi, and Rose all chipped in to help the team. Also playing this past Thursday was the boys varsity, which was led by Nate, Justin and Leo in scoring. The Lightning made a late push, but fell just short in their 37-33 loss to PHS.

Meanwhile, the boys sixth grade JV White were led by Dante and Theo in their game this past Monday, but Friends was a formidable opponent and pulled away in the second half for the 33-13 win over the Lightning. The JV White followed that up with a 41-32 victory over CAIS on Tuesday afternoon. Monday’s action also saw the varsity girls improve to 2-0 as Ella S. and Magnolia scored 10 points each and the team played energetic defense en route to a 33-9 victory over KIPP SF.

Finally, the boys seventh grade JV Green rounded out a busy week with a 28-22 win over KIPP SF on Wednesday. After a back and forth contest, Connell and Eddie both put in some clutch baskets to help the JV Green secure the victory in their first game of the season.
