Lightning Volleyball and Cross Country Starting Strong

Three of the four Live Oak middle school volleyball teams have officially started their seasons, while the cross country squad raced in its second competition of the year at McLaren Park this past week.
Lightning Volleyball Getting Seasons Started

Three of Live Oak’s four volleyball teams have officially begun their seasons. The Varsity White followed up its season-opening win with back-to-back victories this past week. After two back-and-forth sets against Friends, Coda R. stepped up big in the final set with some strong serving to give Live Oak the advantage. After a late surge from Friends, Ellis O. put home the final point as the Lightning took the match by a final of 25-20, 25-27, 15-9. The Varsity White followed that up with a 25-11, 26-24 win over Synergy.

The Lightning JV Green squad opened its season against CDS on Tuesday. All players contributed throughout the game, but CDS came out with the narrow victory, 17-25, 25-18, 15-12. Zeina W. led the way with some strong serving. There were many great plays made from both teams throughout the game. The Lightning came away with a lot of positives from this contest.

Wrapping up the volleyball action from this past week was the Varsity Green, which came out of the gate strong in their matchup with CDS behind the accurate serving of Hudson K. and Kyelle G. Harry O. led a late push for the Lightning with nice serves, but in the end the CDS squad came away with the 25-14, 25-15 victory.

The JV White team opens its season on Friday at Gateway.
